Frequently Asked Questions at Inspired Chiropractic
We are often asked similar questions by new and existing clients and have complied a collection of the most commonly asked.
Can you guarantee results?
No one can promise that they can get resolution but we can make it much more likely that you will get the outcome that you are looking for. We regularly review your care to ensure that you are making progress. With an extensive range of chiropractic techniques available, both manipulative and non-manipulative, we use evidence-based care and time tried methods to increase the likelihood of a successful outcome.
How many appointments will I need?
Our care plans are individually tailored for your specific needs. This helps us target your problem areas and work on resolving the root cause of the issue. Your schedule of care is determined by your examination, spinal scans and previous history so the number of visits required will vary.
Chiropractors use the term adjustment rather than manipulation. This is because not all care involves manipulation and many clients do not have spinal manipulation at all. Chiropractic adjustments are a type of precise manipulation. They are gentle, controlled forces which are used to restore motion, improve joint mobility and reduce muscle spasm which helps relieve pressure and tension. This manipulation, when undertaken by a trained chiropractor, has been shown to be very safe and highly effective. Here at Inspired Chiropractic we have a number of manipulative and non-manipulative techniques that have helped thousands of clients get the outcomes they are looking for. Adjustments are unique, just like you.
Adjustments usually feel good. Our techniques are safe, gentle and effective. Newborns, infants, children and seniors are adjusted at Inspired Chiropractic. Each of these people groups have different spinal needs. From the developing joints of the newborn to the altered anatomy of those who have had surgery, our large range of adjusting techniques and extensive training allows us to work safely and with confidence. With certain clients we modify care to ensure that we maintain our high safety record. If you have any concerns please call to speak to our team. It is important to us that you are comfortable with the care that you receive.
Yes, chiropractic care is safe for all ages. It is a natural approach to health care that works with your body’s own healing processes. Some clients may feel slight soreness following their first few adjustments as the body begins to adapt. This is usually very mild and lasts only a short time.
Do I have to undress for appointments?
It is important to us that you are comfortable when in our office. Clients are asked to change for examination visits only. For regular adjustment visits clients are only asked to remove bulky jumpers, some jewelry etc. For the Initial Consultation men are usually asked to remove their shirts and women are provided with a gown and private place to change. This gown opens at the back and women leave on trousers or skirts as well as their bra. You would never be asked to change in front of others or wear only underwear.
Chiropractic care isn’t just for adults, it is for everyone who wants to live well and feel great. We improve function and mobility in everyone from new-born infants to seniors. Adjusting techniques are tailored to your size, weight and each individual’s specific spinal needs.
Can I do anything to help myself?
Optimal results are a team effort. If you feel great after being adjusted, that’s wonderful and this is our aim for all clients. However, your quest for health doesn’t stop here. The best results seem to occur when we do our job (locate and reduce nervous system interference) and you do your job (better nutrition, proper rest and exercise, reducing stress and keeping your visits). Full restoration of function is the true goal, then your body will return to healing itself. This often happens long after the pain has subsided.
I’ve had back surgery. Can I still see a chiropractor?
Yes, we always take a detailed history and we support many clients with post-surgical care. Surgery has often been shown to cause instability above or below the area involved. More than likely, this will be the focus of your chiropractic care.
Can I use private health cover?
If you have private health cover, you may be able to claim for chiropractic care. We recommend that you check with your health care provider before starting care. Each provider offers different types of cover and your policy is individual. It is your responsibility to ensure that you can claim. We do not accept liability if you are unable to claim. We ask that you settle your account with us directly. We will provide you with a receipt when you wish to make a claim. Should your insurance company require further information regarding your care, they must submit a written request. This authority should include your written consent to release information. Requests for letters, referrals, reports or more complex case matters are chargeable and must be paid in advance.
